Igi Iwe 2026: Even without holding a Public Office, Amofin Akogun’s Impact Without Limits

By Dr. Gbenga Adeboye

The unveiling of Igi Iwe 2026 by the BTA Foundation stands as a compelling reminder that true leadership is not defined by public office, but by consistent service, sacrifice, and measurable impact.

At a time when many voices grow silent outside the corridors of power, Amofin Titilope Akogun continues to act, invest, and uplift. His work in building an “Education Tree” across Kwara South has become a symbol of hope for indigent but brilliant students, proving that meaningful change does not wait for political opportunity.

The growth of the Igi Iwe initiative from 151 beneficiaries in 2025 to 500 JAMB candidates in 2026 reflects not just expansion, but vision, structure, and commitment. More significantly, the provision of full university scholarships for candidates who score 300 and above in the UTME introduces a culture of excellence, rewarding diligence, discipline, and academic distinction.

This is not merely a programme. It is a deliberate investment in the future.

Since 2017, the BTA Foundation has consistently broken financial barriers for hundreds of young people across Irepodun, Ekiti, Isin, and Oke Ero Local Government Areas. Year after year, lives have been transformed through educational sponsorship, all without reliance on public office or government resources. This level of sustained intervention speaks to a leader driven not by position, but by purpose.

The Igi Iwe initiative, meaning “Education Tree,” is more than a name. It is a philosophy. Like a tree, it is rooted in vision, nurtured by consistency, and bearing fruits in the lives of young scholars who now see possibilities where there were once limitations.

In his charge to the 2026 beneficiaries, Amofin Akogun’s call for excellence was clear and inspiring. By urging students to aim for scores of 300 and above, he reinforced the idea that access must be matched with achievement. His assurance of full tuition scholarships for top performers demonstrates a leadership style that not only opens doors, but also encourages those who walk through them to excel.

His words reflect a deeper belief that greatness is not accidental, but cultivated through discipline, confidence, and hard work.

Igi Iwe 2026 therefore stands as living proof that Amofin Akogun’s interventions are intentional, sustained, and impactful. It represents a model of leadership anchored on service before position, impact before title, and vision before ambition.

As Kwara moves toward 2027, this initiative sends a clear and unmistakable message. If this is the level of commitment demonstrated outside public office, then the promise of leadership built on education, empowerment, and human capital development is not theoretical. It is already unfolding.

The future, in this case, is not being imagined. It is being built and all well meaning Kwara Southerner must applaud and celebrate a Youth who have not prioritised himself alone, but the upliftment of our people, even without public office.
