A former Kwara Commissioner, Hon. Mahalia Aishatu Ahman Pategi has formally submitted her letter of intent to the State Working Committee (SWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest for the office of the Governor of Kwara State.
Accompanied by a high-powered delegation, the Founder of the Mama Mahalia Foundation INC USA presented her formal notification to the Kwara APC State Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi at the party’s state secretariat in Ilorin on Friday.
Addressing party Executives, Hon. Mahalia stated that her decision to run is rooted in a profound desire to build upon the solid foundation laid by the current APC administration.

Her vision, anchored on the mantra “Kwara Belongs to Us All, emphasizes economic empowerment, social inclusion, and human capital development.
“This decision is born out of a profound desire to serve the people of Kwara State,” she said while addressing the party Leadership.
“I am committed to ensuring that no one is left behind, women, youth, persons with disabilities, farmers, traders, and professionals alike, together, we can build a Kwara that is prosperous and full of opportunity for every citizen.” She added.
The submission was preceded by a briefing from Hon. Sulaiman Ahman Pategi who highlighted the aspirant’s extensive background in public service and her international experience. As a former cabinet member in the state, Mahalia is viewed as a candidate who understands the inner workings of governance and has the strategic resolve to implement people-centered policies.

Receiving the letter, the Kwara APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, commended Hon. Mahalia for her loyalty to the party and for following the formal administrative protocols of the APC.

He noted that her entry into the race enriches the quality of choices available to the party and reflects the inclusive nature of the APC in Kwara State.
9japarrot reports that Hon. Mahalia’s declaration is a significant milestone, particularly in the push for increased female participation in top-tier governance within the state. Her dual profile as a local grassroots mobilizer and an international development advocate via her US-based foundation is seen as a unique asset that could bridge the gap between global innovation and local needs.
The engagement concluded with a group session between the aspirant and members of the State Working Committee, signaling the official take-off of the “Mahalia for Governor” movement ahead of the 2027 primary elections.
