A prominent Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Hon. Akintade Shittu Abdulmutalib on Sunday, officially declared his intention to contest for the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives come 2027.
Shittu made the formal declaration at the Sofoluwe Hall, Offa Grammar School (OGS), before a capacity crowd of party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from the three local government areas making up the constituency.
Addressing the gathering, the aspirant expressed concern over what he described as the lack of focused and effective representation for the constituency at the National Assembly, vowing to amplify the voices of his people in Abuja.
He said, “The truth is, our people are trying, but things are not working the way they should. Our young people are graduating with no jobs, and our women, who are the pillars of our homes, lack the necessary funding to grow their businesses. Our voices have not been heard loud enough in Abuja, and that must change.”

Unveiling his legislative agenda, Shittu promised to champion policies that would expand credit access for Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs), strengthen agricultural value chains, and ensure that federal infrastructure projects are fully implemented within the constituency.
“This campaign is about making sure a young person in Offa can find opportunity, a woman in Oyun can grow her business, and a family in Ifelodun can feel the impact of government. I have built systems and I have run systems; I know what works,” he added.
The event was attended by key party figures, including the APC Chairman for Offa Local Government, Alhaji Nasiru Adekunle Moshood (Papa), alongside the party chairmen for Oyun and Ifelodun LGAs.
In their separate goodwill remarks, the party chairmen and other stakeholders, including Hon. Kasali, commended Shittu’s commitment to the party’s ideals and his consistent support for the “Otoge” administration led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Shittu, while soliciting the support of the delegates and the electorate, maintained that his entrance into the race was not about mere promises but about delivering measurable results through unity.
“To the youths, your future will not be delayed. To the women, your role will not be overlooked. I will not betray your trust. Together, we are stronger,” Shittu concluded.
