In a major boost to her gubernatorial ambition, the 16 All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Women Leaders in Kwara State have unanimously endorsed Hon. Mahalia Aisha Ahman Pategi for the 2027 governorship race.
The endorsement, which was announced following a high-level consultative meeting in Ilorin, also received the full backing of the APC Senatorial Women Leaders and the State Woman Leader, marking a historic consensus among the party’s female hierarchy.
The women leaders described Pategi’s aspiration as a “divine mandate” that resonates with the yearnings of the grassroots. In a joint communique, the leaders stated that their decision to support the “Mama Oyoyo” movement was informed by Pategi’s track record of service and her commitment to inclusive leadership.
The State Woman Leader, while leading the declaration, noted:
“This historic endorsement signals a powerful wave of unity among women across Kwara. We are reinforcing a collective commitment to a future where grassroots empowerment is not just a slogan, but a reality where every voice is heard.”
By securing the loyalty of the women’s wing across all 16 local government areas, the aspirant has effectively mobilized a critical voting bloc that is often decisive in Kwara elections.
The women leaders emphasized that Pategi’s “Mama Oyoyo” philosophy which prioritizes care, protection, and provision aligns perfectly with the socio-economic needs of women, traders, and vulnerable households in the state.
The leaders also maintained that Pategi’s candidacy would strengthen the APC’s internal cohesion, urging other party stakeholders to recognize the importance of gender-inclusive leadership in the upcoming electoral cycle.
