Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State witnessed a major political gathering yesterday as thousands of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters converged for a mega rally in support of the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the endorsement of Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi as a leading contender for the Kwara APC governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections. Feedback from the street described the turnout as massive, with party faithful, youth groups, women associations, and community leaders in attendance.
Among the notable figures who stood out at the rally was Comrade MM Essanti, widely regarded as one of the emerging political voices from Kwara North. His presence drew attention from supporters and observers, many of whom see him as a rising force in the region’s political future.
Dressed in traditional attire and warmly received by supporters, Essanti moved through the crowd with confidence, interacting with party members and grassroots mobilizers. His appearance added momentum to an already energetic event, reinforcing his growing relevance in Kwara North politics.
The rally was largely centered on two key messages: continued support for President Tinubu’s administration and growing calls for power shift within Kwara State to Kwara North in 2027 in favor of Speaker Salihu Danladi. Political stakeholders from the region have recently intensified advocacy that the next governor should emerge from Kwara North, citing fairness, equity, and inclusion.

Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, was prominently endorsed at the gathering, with chants and placards showing strong grassroots backing. His name continues to feature prominently among possible APC governorship aspirants from the district.
For many attendees, however, the presence of personalities like MM Essanti signals that Kwara North has a broader pool of credible leaders and mobilizers ready to shape the state’s future. Political analysts note that his popularity among younger supporters and local stakeholders could make him an influential factor in the coming political realignments.
The Patigi rally also demonstrated APC’s continued grassroots strength in Kwara North, especially in Edu, Moro, Patigi, Kaiama, and Baruten axis, where turnout and enthusiasm were visibly strong.
As preparations gradually begin for the 2027 governorship race, yesterday’s rally may be remembered as more than a show of support it was also a platform where emerging leaders like Comr. MM Essanti further stamped their presence on the political landscape of Kwara State.
