The political landscape of Kwara North witnessed a major shift on Monday as stakeholders and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Patigi Local Government Area converged in their thousands to endorse the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu for the 2027 governorship race.
The landmark rally, held at the Low-Cost Housing premises in Patigi, also served as a massive display of solidarity for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with party faithful affirming their 100% loyalty to the leadership of the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CO.
The endorsement was characterized by a unified call for a Kwara North successor to Governor AbdulRazaq. Addressing the mammoth crowd, the Executive Chairman of Patigi LG, Hon. Ahmed Rufai, stated that the decision to back the Speaker was reached after a critical cross-examination of all aspirants.
“Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi has built people and created a path for the younger generation. We have unanimously agreed to endorse him as our preferred aspirant,” Rufai declared.
Echoing this sentiment, the elder statesman and Chigari of Patigi Emirate, Alhaji Othman Shaaba, officially blessed the Speaker’s candidacy, noting that it is “the best time for a Kwara Northerner to lead the state” to ensure equity and continued development.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Lade and the Member representing Patigi State Constituency, Hon. Mohammed Kareem Musa both emphasized that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq remains the “compass” of the party in the state.
“Our loyalty to the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman in Patigi is 100 per cent,” Lade said. “Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi has proven to be a good leader who can carry on the transformative leadership we are currently witnessing.” He added.
Speaking on the federal outlook, a former Commissioner of the Federal Character Commission, Hon. James Kolo projected that Patigi would deliver over 80% of its votes to President Tinubu in 2027. He described the Speaker as the most suitable candidate to maintain the synergy between the state and the federal government.
The SSA on Youth Engagement, Hon. Peter Tsado highlighted the Speaker’s popularity at the grassroots, noting that the large turnout at short notice was a testament to the people’s love for his candidacy.

The event concluded with a formal affirmation from various professional bodies, artisans, women groups, and youth organizations, all signaling a unified stance behind the Danladi-Salihu governorship project and the APC’s continued dominance in the region.
