Political alignments across Ilorin East and Ilorin South Federal Constituency are beginning to take a clearer and more decisive shape following the entry of Hon. Dr. Afees Abolore Alabi into the House of Representatives race.
Abolore has officially picked up the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination Form for the Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency seat, a move that has quickly become a central reference point in early conversations around the 2027 contest.
The development has drawn immediate attention across party structures, community stakeholders, and grassroots networks, with discussions increasingly centring on how the emerging contest is beginning to reorganise itself around his entry.
Abolore is a former Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, and Commissioner for Tertiary Education in Kwara State. He also previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Land Matters to the Governor of Ogun State between 2019 and 2022.
Beyond government service, he has worked in academia as a Lecturer I in the Department of Estate Management, University of Lagos, and has professional experience in banking and real estate consultancy, reflecting exposure across governance, academia, and the private sector.
A native of Ilorin East with strong roots in Iponrin and adjoining communities, Abolore is also known for sustained grassroots engagement, youth empowerment initiatives, and community development involvement across the constituency.
Within stakeholder circles, his entry is already being viewed as a defining factor shaping early positioning, as attention gradually shifts toward experience, structure, and constituency reach ahead of the APC primaries.
As consultations deepen across political blocs and communities, the unfolding race in Ilorin East and Ilorin South is entering a more defined phase, with alignments beginning to take shape around his emergence.
For now, Abolore’s entry stands at the centre of early expectations and recalibrations around the 2027 contest in the constituency.
