A frontline gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Alhaji Omar Bolaji Gambari (OBG), has formally picked up his expression of interest and nomination forms ending months of speculation regarding his 2027 ambitions.
Addressing his supporters and members of the State Working Committee (SWC) at the party’s secretariat in Ilorin, Gambari emphasized that his entry into the race is not a “do-or-die” affair but a commitment to the collective mission of returning the PDP to Government House.
Gambari used the occasion to reaffirm his absolute loyalty to the national leader of the party and former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki. He noted that despite skepticism from some quarters, the party leadership has provided a level playing field for all aspirants.

“Our leader, Dr. Bukola Saraki, promised us a platform to prosecute our ambitions, and today, he has been proven true,” Gambari stated.
“I am here because of the opportunity he has given us to raise our hands and say we want to serve. May Almighty Allah continue to guide his steps.” He added.
Addressing rumors regarding his stance on the party’s internal selection process, the aspirant made it clear that he is fully committed to any consensus arrangement decided upon by the party leadership. He pointed to his political history as evidence of his party loyalty.
“I have heard many rumors, but let me be clear, I fully and firmly support the census arrangement,” he said, adding that in 2018, when a candidate was chosen through consensus he remained calm and did not leave the party.
“Whatever the party decides, I will follow. My loyalty is 100%.” He added.
The aspirant, popularly known as OBG, warned that the PDP is not “joking” in its quest to reclaim the state. He vowed to commit his personal resources, professional experience, and intellectual capacity to ensure the party’s victory in 2027.
Our mission is to take back Kwara State in 2027 and I’m committed to deploy total devotion of resources and capacity to the PDP flag in ensuring the PDP flag flies over the Ahmadu Bello Way Government House, He said.
Acknowledging the high energy and occasional noise from his supporters during the visit, Gambari urged the party leadership to see the passion as a sign of strength rather than disorder. He described the PDP as a listening party where the voices of the people are heard and respected.
“People are passionate, and that is our strength. Let us not damp them down. We are ready to work, and by the grace of God, we will return here to submit these forms and move on to victory,” he concluded.
9japarrot reports that the submission ceremony was attended by key stakeholders of the party in the state led by the party Chairman, Hon. Adamu Issa Bawa signaling the intensification of internal activities within the main opposition party ahead of the next election cycle.
