Following the conclusion of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary elections on Saturday, a leading frontline aspirant for the Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency, Barr. Hussein Afolabi has raised concerns over the inflation of unverified figures, circulation of questionable documents, and premature self-declarations by some camps.
In a statement released on Sunday and made available to 9japarrot media, the legal practitioner and progressive stakeholder called for absolute calm across the northern senatorial district, urging party members and constituents to remain peaceful and law-abiding as official party channels conclude the collation process.
Barr. Afolabi expressed deep worry over the recent turn of events in the constituency, noting that allegations of forged results, falsified signatures, and unauthorized public declarations have begun to undermine the integrity of the internal democratic exercise.
He cautioned that while political maneuvering is common in elections, crossing into the territory of forgery and self-help carries severe legal and criminal implications.
“If individuals seeking to represent the good people of Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency cannot submit themselves to due process, lawful procedure, and party authority during a primary election, what confidence should the public have in their commitment to democratic principles?” Afolabi questioned. “These are not just political issues; they speak directly to the values, temperament, and credibility expected of those aspiring to public office.” He said.
Despite confirming that his campaign team has received verified reports from multiple wards indicating an overwhelming lead and strong support for his legislative blueprint, Afolabi explained that his camp has deliberately chosen not to engage in premature celebrations out of respect for institutional order and the rule of law.
He reminded all co-aspirants that the APC is governed by a clear constitution, strict guidelines, and established structures that hold ultimate authority over the final collation and official declaration of winners.
The statement concluded with a passionate appeal to his counter-contenders and their respective mobilizers to exercise maximum restraint and avoid actions capable of overheating the polity.
