The leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), representing over 150 million young people across the country, has officially thrown its weight behind the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, following his historic emergence as the gubernatorial flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election.
The apex youth body also joined family, friends, political associates, and well-wishers to celebrate a double milestone as the Speaker marks his 41st birthday.
In an official statement signed by the Deputy President of the NYCN, Amb. Mukhtar Akoshile, the council described Speaker Danladi’s primary election victory as an inspiring, paradigm-shifting moment for the youth demographic nationwide.
The council noted that his emergence is a clear validation of competence, legislative excellence, and the growing trust in younger leaders to steer high-level executive structures. With this ticket secured, the NYCN expressed strong optimism that Danladi is on track to become Nigeria’s youngest executive governor in the 2027 polls.
“The emergence of Rt. Hon. Danladi as the APC gubernatorial candidate is a historic and inspiring victory for Nigerian youths,” Amb. Akoshile stated.
“It further reflects the growing confidence in youthful leadership, competence, and capacity in governance. We are optimistic that upon victory in 2027, Hon. Danladi will emerge as Nigeria’s youngest governor, thereby strengthening the voice and participation of young people in leadership.” the statement added.
The NYCN highlighted that the Speaker’s 41st birthday is much more than an annual milestone; it is a celebration of a young leader who has dedicated his prime years to structural public service, anchoring the state’s legislative arm with maturity and deep progressive values.
Under his leadership as Speaker, the Kwara State House of Assembly has maintained a stable, productive relationship with the executive arm, driving critical laws that have opened up opportunities for youth inclusion, digital innovation, and grassroots growth.
The council concluded its goodwill message by offering prayers for the standard-bearer, asking Almighty God to grant him continuous divine guidance, pristine wisdom, robust health, and absolute success as he transitions into the main gubernatorial campaign stream to serve Kwara State and Nigeria at large.
