Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were chased away by voters at a polling unit in Iyin-Ekiti on Saturday during the ongoing Ekiti State governorship election.
The anti-graft officials had reportedly arrived at the polling unit to monitor and curb suspected vote-buying. However, their presence angered some voters, who questioned their deployment and demanded that they leave the area.
The situation escalated as the voters forced the EFCC operatives to leave, after which voting continued without further disruption.
The incident occurred amid widespread allegations of vote-buying reported across several parts of Ekiti State during the governorship election.
