Coalition of Kwara APC Assembly Aspirants Demand Refunds, Fairness Over Alleged Primary Exclusion

A Coalition of the 2027 House of Assembly Aspirants APC Kwara State has issued a press statement calling for financial refunds, political appointments, and inclusion following what it described as an exclusion from the party’s recent House of Assembly primary elections.

In a communique dated July 19, 2026, signed by the coalition’s leadership and made available to 9japarrot media, the group said several aspirants fulfilled all constitutional requirements, purchased nomination forms, and were cleared by the National Leadership of the APC.

However, it alleged that on the day of the primaries the Kwara State APC declared them uncleared, which prevented them from contesting. The coalition described the situation as a serious political injustice that denied loyal aspirants the chance to test their popularity before party members despite years of commitment, sacrifice, and substantial financial investment, adding that loyalty should never be rewarded with exclusion and sacrifice should never be met with political neglect.

The statement also reaffirmed the group’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress and to the administration of Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

To address what it termed an unwarranted exclusion, the coalition asked the party leadership to review the clearance status granted by the APC National Leadership and to consider qualified affected aspirants as party candidates where practicable. Where candidacy adjustments are not feasible due to political considerations, the group requested that affected members be considered for alternative elective opportunities, board appointments, campaign leadership roles, and government commissions. It also called for a refund or compensation package equivalent to or exceeding the expenses incurred on nomination forms, consultations, and campaign logistics.

The coalition acknowledged ongoing peace talks led by the Kwara State APC Primary Elections Reconciliation Committee and the State Working Committee. It urged affected aspirants and supporters to remain peaceful and law abiding, and stressed that its pursuit of justice will remain within official internal party channels.

Signatories to the Communique includes: Hon. Chief Olu Adewara as Chairman, Hon. Engr. Kazeem Bukoye as Co-Chairman for Kwara South, Hon. Engr.
