The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Kwara South, Hon. Saheed Olamilekan Popoola, has assured thousands of former All Progressives Congress (APC) members who recently defected to the PDP in Offa Local Government that the development of Offa and Kwara South will be better secured under a PDP administration.
Popoola gave the assurance on Saturday while addressing decampees and journalists at a reception ceremony held in Offa.
He accused the APC leadership in Kwara State of bad leadership and mismanagement of funds, stating that the party has driven Kwara backwards in the last few years despite huge allocations and opportunities.
“Offa is moving forward with PDP. The development of Offa and Kwara South will be better in our hands. We have seen how APC has mismanaged our resources and abandoned the people. It is time to correct that,” Popoola said.
The former lawmaker expressed confidence that he will win the 2027 Kwara South senatorial election, attributing his optimism to the growing support and commitment of party members and residents who have been part of the rescue project.
“I am confident of victory because the people are with us. Everyone who has been part of this project knows that we are on a mission to restore Kwara South,” he added.
Popoola further assured the people of Kwara South of his unflinching commitment to service and equitable distribution of dividends of democracy if elected as Senator.
He promised to prioritize legislative interventions that will address infrastructure decay, youth unemployment and economic empowerment across the seven local government areas of Kwara South.
