Nigerian singer Chidinma Ekile has revealed that she once left the country and attempted to secure permanent residency abroad before eventually returning to Nigeria and transitioning from secular to gospel music.
The singer made this revelation at a recent event organised by Eezee Conceptz, where she recounted how her plans to settle abroad failed, paving the way for a new chapter in her musical career and spiritual journey.
According to Chidinma, she travelled abroad with the intention of staying permanently and had begun processing the necessary documents because she did not want to return to Nigeria. However, her plans did not work out as expected.
She explained that during her time abroad, the Chief Executive Officer of Eezee Conceptz was the only person consistently contacting her from Nigeria and encouraging her.
Chidinma said the support she received from him helped her find the courage to return home, after which she approached him for a gospel music contract.
“I travelled. I ran away from Nigeria. I was processing my papers not to come back to Nigeria, but for some reason, it didn’t work,” she said.
She added that the continued encouragement from the music executive influenced her decision to return and pursue a different direction in her career.
“While I was abroad, the CEO of Eezee Conceptz was the only one who was calling me from Nigeria. He kept encouraging me, and I found the strength to come back to Nigeria. When I came back, I asked him to give me a gospel music contract because I want to spend time with God. And he gave me a contract that even my lawyer said seemed like a charity,” she stated.
The singer further clarified that her decision to leave secular music for gospel was not primarily driven by a desire to make gospel songs, but by her longing to develop a deeper relationship with God.
Her revelation offers insight into the personal experiences and spiritual convictions that influenced her transition into gospel music and her subsequent partnership with Eezee Conceptz.
