Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has set his sights on becoming the African player with the most appearances in the English Premier League.
The Nigerian international moved to second place on the all-time list following Fulham’s 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park last Saturday.
Iwobi had previously been tied in second position with former Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah but has now moved ahead with 329 appearances across spells at three Premier League clubs.
The 30-year-old made 100 appearances for Arsenal and 123 for Everton before joining Fulham, where he has featured 106 times.
Former Ivory Coast international Kolo Toure currently tops the list with 352 Premier League appearances.
Speaking to FFC TV, Iwobi expressed his ambition to surpass Toure’s record, saying he would continue working towards achieving the milestone.
“But I’m trying to break the record, I think Kolo Toure is up there, so I’ll keep my eyes going forward and see if I can break that,” he said.
