Senator Sadiq Mourns Chief Imam of Ilorin

•• Describes Him as a Pillar of Spiritual Guidance and Moral Discipline 

Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, representing Kwara North Senatorial District, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu OON, describing his demise as a monumental loss to the Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, and the entire Muslim Ummah in Nigeria.

In a condolence message, Senator Sadiq Umar extended his heartfelt sympathies to the Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq CON, the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, the Ilorin Emirate Council, the family of the late Chief Imam, and the Muslim faithful across the state on the transition of the revered Islamic scholar.

The Senator noted that Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu, who served as the 12th Chief Imam of Ilorin for over four decades, was a pillar of spiritual guidance, moral discipline, and peaceful coexistence. He described the late cleric as a rare leader whose life was devoted to the service of Allah and humanity, leaving behind an enduring legacy of scholarship, humility, and unity.

Senator Sadiq added that the late Chief Imam’s wise counsel and prayers for leaders and the nation at large would be dearly missed.

He prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT) who forgives the shortcomings of the departed, grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and gives the Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, and the entire Muslim Ummah the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
