Yoruba nation activist and founder of the Iru Ekun Security Network, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has announced the rescue of a woman and her son who were abducted in Igbope, Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a statement issued by his media office on Saturday, Igboho said his team, working with the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force, rescued the victims, identified as Adijat Kubura Aliqlas and her son, Abdulmalik, during an operation in Kwara State.
According to him, the rescue mission lasted about three days and was made possible through intelligence gathering and tracking. He explained that the kidnappers were lured with a ransom arrangement and were confronted in a forest around midnight on Saturday when they arrived to collect the money.
Igboho said his team, alongside ASP Amos Ajegoke and other police officers, had tracked the suspects’ movements and discovered they were operating around Bode Sadu before Jebba. A fierce exchange of gunfire followed, forcing the abductors to flee with gunshot wounds and abandon their captives in the forest.
The victims were eventually located after security operatives heard them calling for help. They were rescued and taken to Igboho General Hospital, where they are receiving medical attention.
Igboho credited the success of the operation to the support of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Intelligence Response Team, Tunji Disu, who coordinated with the Commissioners of Police in Kwara and Niger states throughout the operation.
He reaffirmed his commitment to protecting lives and property in Oke-Ogun and across Oyo State, assuring residents that lawful measures would continue to be deployed to support peace and security. He also urged Nigerians to support legitimate security efforts and avoid spreading unverified information capable of creating unnecessary fear.
