Former Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Dr. Rafiu Ajakaye has reaffirmed his readiness to leverage seven years of executive governance experience to drive policy innovations including tech security and legislative oversight in the House of Representatives.
Ajakaye, who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency, stated this at the conclusion of a three-day, seven-local-government ‘Thank You’ tour across Kwara South alongside party leaders and candidates.
Reflecting on his transition from journalism to senior public administration, Ajakaye noted that his tenure as government spokesperson provided deep insight into governance challenges that require federal legislative intervention.
“Having served as a public officer in the last seven years, I have gotten the motivation to do more for our people. I believe I have more to offer, particularly in supporting governance with appropriate legislative oversight” He said.
“For instance, in tech security, I believe there is still much to be done at the federal legislative level to protect infrastructure and broaden economic opportunities for young people.” Ajakaye added.
Addressing newsmen on the political timetable, Ajakaye clarified that the tour across Kwara South was strictly a consultative gratitude visit to traditional institutions and party delegates following the primaries, rather than open campaigning.
He confirmed that official campaigns will commence on August 19, in full compliance with electoral guidelines, noting that the visit is just to thank the monarchs and party stakeholders who stood by them during the primary.
“We went around seven local governments because our traditional rulers are the custodians and gatekeepers of the communities we represent. The reception from both royal fathers and party faithful has been overwhelming as we march steadily toward 2027.” He said
