KAROTA Transfers Suspected Stolen Truck To Kano Police

The Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has handed over a suspected stolen mini truck, popularly known as “Kurkura,” to the Jakara Division of the Kano State Police Command for further investigation.

The vehicle was recovered during a night patrol on Monday after KAROTA officials reportedly intercepted suspected thieves attempting to tow it away at about 4am.

According to the agency, the driver of the towing vehicle fled after the patrol team intervened, cutting the rope attached to the mini truck and abandoning another suspect inside the vehicle.

The patrol team, led by the officer in charge of night operations, General Abubakar H. Muhammad, questioned the suspect about the reason for towing the vehicle at such an unusual hour.

KAROTA said the suspect failed to provide a convincing explanation before eventually fleeing the scene and abandoning the mini truck.

The agency said the vehicle was subsequently taken to its headquarters for safekeeping following a police report concerning its disappearance on September 24, 2026.

At the handover ceremony, the KAROTA Managing Director, Faisal Mahmud Kabir, represented by the Director of Personnel Management, Mahmud M. Haido, commended the patrol team for recovering the vehicle.

Haido praised the officers for maintaining discipline and professionalism despite an alleged attempt by the towing vehicle’s driver to offer them a bribe.

He urged KAROTA personnel to remain committed to their duties and uphold the agency’s standards of integrity.

Kabir also assured the personnel of continued management support through the provision of necessary equipment and facilities to improve their operations.

The Chairman of the Kano State chapter of the Mini Truck Drivers Association, Sani Abdulladif Kofar Na’isa, also commended the patrol team for its efforts in recovering the vehicle.

The mini truck is expected to be returned to its owner after the completion of the necessary police procedures.
