Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has advised single women against accepting relationship or marriage proposals simply because a man has chosen them, urging them to consider whether the person is truly suitable for them.
Adegbite gave the advice during a recent episode of her podcast, shared on her YouTube channel, where she noted that some women settle for men who are ready for marriage without considering whether they are compatible with them.
She urged women to focus on finding partners with whom they can build a healthy and supportive relationship, regardless of age differences.
“Ladies, don’t choose someone because they chose you. Choose someone because they are right for you; whether he’s younger, older or exactly your age, the question is always: Can we love, support, and build with each other?
“Because at the end of the day, we are not looking for numbers. We are looking for a partner. And if that partner happens to be younger, that is also fine,” she said.
The actress also cautioned older women against accepting proposals from younger men solely because the relationship makes them feel desirable.
She advised them to consider the man’s level of respect, emotional maturity and willingness to build a future with them before making a commitment.
“To the older woman, if a younger man is interested in you, please don’t make the mistake of choosing him because he makes you feel desirable. Choose him because he respects, supports, and makes you feel safe.
“Only choose him if he is emotionally mature and knows what he wants, respects your children and your life, and actually wants to build something with you,” she added.
