A graduate of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Najeebat Oyerinde popularly known as Your RadioGirl (Naj) has emerged as one of the 15 global finalists in the New Day Education International Journalistic Competition in Russia.
Announcing her selection on social media, Oyerinde expressed excitement over representing Nigeria in the international contest, describing it as a major milestone in her broadcasting career.
The global competition brings together emerging journalists, bloggers, and media practitioners to explore Russia’s educational, cultural, and media landscape through content creation.
The final phase of the contest, taking place from October 14 to 31, 2026, features an in-person media expedition across top Russian universities, where finalists will document their experiences through vlogs, articles, photo stories, podcasts, and video reports.
The participant who receives the highest cumulative score from the jury in the final evaluation will be awarded a fully funded scholarship for a master’s degree program at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University), with the overall winner scheduled for announcement in December 2026.
Oyerinde’s international recognition follows her victory in 2025 as Broadcaster of the Year at the 7th edition of the Campus Journalism Awards, organized by the Youth Digest initiative.
Her selection brings praise to Kwara State University and highlights the growing global reach of young Nigerian media professionals participating in international journalism initiatives.
