President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has charged the Director of Women Mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dr. Betta Edu, alongside campaign leaders and APC women nationwide, to intensify grassroots engagement and secure women’s support for the party in the 2027 general elections.
The President gave the charge during the official inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Commending the pivotal contributions of Nigerian women to national development and democratic governance, President Tinubu described women as “the greatest mobilisers,” noting that their organizational influence, numerical strength, and leadership within households and communities make them indispensable to the party’s re-election project.
He directed the Women Mobilisation Directorate to translate enthusiasm across the country into a structured, nationwide campaign network capable of delivering electoral victory for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
In response to the charge, the Women Mobilisation Directorate under Dr. Edu set an ambitious target of securing massive electoral support through a grassroots framework covering 176,846 polling units and communities nationwide.
The strategy emphasizes direct ward-level organization, household outreach, market engagements, and collaborations with agricultural cooperatives, professional bodies, and faith-based groups to communicate the administration’s policies and programs.
The campaign drive builds on momentum from the recent pre-inaugural Women’s Summit and Empowerment Programme led by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu in Abuja, which provided livelihood support items including motorbikes and farm trucks to women beneficiaries to align political mobilization with economic empowerment.
Reaffirming the readiness of the directorate, Dr. Edu called for unity and disciplined coordination among party women, assuring that the campaign structure will maintain direct contact with voters across all geopolitical zones to turn political enthusiasm into decisive votes at the polls.
