Tinubu to Present 2027 Budget to National Assembly Before Year-End – Minister

Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to present the 2027 Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly before the end of 2026, the Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Doris Anite-Uzoka, has disclosed.

The minister made this known on Wednesday while briefing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Tinubu at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja.

“We are working on the budget for 2027, and the intention is to present it before the end of the year,” Anite-Uzoka said in response to a question about the proposed presentation date.

The disclosure comes amid ongoing preparations by the Budget Office of the Federation, which has begun coordinating personnel cost proposals for the 2027 fiscal year.

In a circular dated September 4, 2026, and signed by the Director-General of the Budget Office, Tanimu Yakubu, ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) were directed to submit their 2027 personnel cost proposals alongside their respective establishment Acts.

The directive introduced a compulsory requirement for MDAs to attach their establishment Acts to budget proposals, following concerns over fictitious government agencies uncovered by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The circular also stipulated that agencies not captured on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) or the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) would not receive personnel cost allocations in the 2027 budget.

The planned presentation of the 2027 budget will mark a key stage in the Federal Government’s annual fiscal planning process, setting out its proposed spending priorities and resource allocations for the coming financial year.
