••• Group says Kawu lacks genuine idea, courage for No 1 seat

Kwara Rebuilders has lambasted Kwara PDP gubernatorial candidate, Engr. Kale Kawu, for copying the idea of Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, which prompted his rushed, badly rehashed unveiling of a manifesto scheduled for next Thursday.
Hamzat, the APC governorship candidate in Lagos, recently made headlines with his historic unveiling of his manifesto themed ‘My Lagos Promise’.
In similar fashion, Kawu has now named his manifesto ‘My Convenant with Kwara’ barely five days after.
In a statement by its Media Officer for Kwara Central Senatorial District, AbdulQuadri AbdulKabeer, Kwara Rebuilders said Kale Kawu’s manifesto is an after-thought and not original.
The group challenged him to stop his copy-and-paste strategy and instead build his own genuine idea.
“We were quite amused to see a man who once publicly admitted that he had no other mission and vision for Kwara other than to sustain the Saraki dynasty now making a surprising move of launching a manifesto.
“We consider this a mere deceitful move to cajole Kwarans. Engr. Kale Kawu should stop embarrassing himself and be a man of his own, who is courageous enough to build original, genuine ideas,” Kwara Rebuilders said.
The pro-democracy group said Kawu has shown so much knack for sycophancy and incompetence, expressing a total lack of confidence in his capacity to govern Kwara State.
“We need a leader of original thoughts. A hurriedly written manifesto will not address the governance needs of Kwara. The people of the state want progress and continuity, and a candidate who has not been at the centre of the reforms and transformation of the past six years cannot guarantee that. A candidate that has pledged to restore a dynasty where teachers and workers were owed salaries, schools hardly got meaningful investments, primary healthcare centres were abandoned cannot be trusted to move Kwara forward.
“We urge Engr. Kawu to stop his copycat approach to politics and apologise for his attempt to decieve Kwarans. He should also own up to his real mission of serving as a stooge to a broke dynasty seeking Kwara funds to pursue a presidential bid by 2031, instead of going about making any pretence to governance. PDP stands rejected,” the group stated.
