Man Arrested For Allegedly Stabbing Neighbour To Death Over Roasted Meat In Adamawa

A 28-year-old man, Ibrahim Augustine, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his 21-year-old neighbour, Haggai Markus, to death following a disagreement over roasted meat in Mubi North Local Government Area of the state.

The police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroji, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, stating that the incident occurred at Mararaban Vimtim on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at about 8 pm.

According to the statement, the deceased and the suspect had an argument over roasted meat allegedly taken from a butcher’s table, which later escalated into violence.

During the disagreement, Augustine reportedly picked up a knife and stabbed Markus in the chest.

Nguroji said the victim’s father, identified as Markus Gabo, reported the incident to the police at about 8:45 pm on the same day.

Following the report, operatives attached to the Mubi North Divisional Police Headquarters visited the scene, where they found Markus lying dead in a pool of blood.

The police recovered a knife suspected to have been used in the attack as an exhibit and arrested the suspect.

The victim’s remains were subsequently taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Mubi, where a medical doctor confirmed his death.

The statement added that the suspect, alongside the case diary, would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabir Hassan, commiserated with the deceased’s family and assured residents that justice would be served.

The police also urged residents to resolve disagreements peacefully and report disputes to law enforcement agencies rather than resorting to violence.
