The Kwara State Government has received two trucks containing a total of 1,200 bags of rice from the Federal Government.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has instructed for these bags to be immediately distributed to those less fortunate through the local government structures in the state.

A statement from the Government House through the Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye explained that the rice was received on Thursday and the Governor wants it to be shared with the less privileged without delay. The distribution process will be supervised by the local government authorities.

The Governor is also urging the involvement of various stakeholders, including community-based groups and traditional institutions, to compile a list of beneficiaries in a fair and unbiased manner. Additionally, the state government is still awaiting the arrival of three more trucks of rice bags, which will be distributed in a similar fashion.

The Governor extends his gratitude to the Federal Government, particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for their kind gesture. Prior to this, the Kwara State Government had already implemented various measures to support the removal of fuel subsidy, including an ongoing electronic process to provide financial assistance to students from Kwara State.
