Mr Biodun Oyebanji, the Governor of Ekiti State, has suspended Mr Olaiya Atibioke, the newly inaugurated Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Home Affairs, for a period of two weeks.
The suspension stems from Mr Atibioke’s unauthorized departure from the venue of a three-day retreat for members of the State Executive Council and Permanent Secretaries, which was held at Bishop Adetiloye Hall, Trade Fair Complex, Ado-Ekiti on Saturday.
The suspension will take immediate effect. A statement signed by Mr Yinka Oyebode, the Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor, explains that the Commissioner left the retreat without permission and was absent when commissioners were called upon to sign the performance charter.
Throughout the three-day retreat, Governor Oyebanji attended all the sessions and emphasized the administration’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and poor performance.
