•••Says He Was Officially Received Into APC
Former Chairman of Ekiti Local Government, Comrade Yinka Dallas, has dismissed claims by the Isapa Ward Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adewumi Daniel, that he was never a registered member of the party.
Yinka Dallas described the statement as an outdated tactic aimed at discrediting anyone who speaks out against issues within the party.
Reacting to the claims, Dallas said his political record speaks for itself, adding that he officially decamped to the APC at the ward and local government levels before his formal reception at the state level.
He recalled that on 12th June 2021, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq ceremonially handed him his APC membership card, marking his official entry into the party.
“Being in a party does not mean we cannot express ourselves out of fear. A loyal member is one who speaks up when necessary,” Dallas stated.
He criticised the leadership of the APC in the state, insisting that the party is facing internal crises that must be addressed for it to remain strong.
According to him, denying his membership is a weak attempt to silence voices calling for reforms.
“For clarity, I decamped in good faith and was received at all levels—ward, local government, and state. During my local government decamping, Hon. Ajulo was present, and the current Executive Chairman of Ekiti Local Government, Hon. Wale Awelewa, who was then the APC LG Chairman, received me and my people. I was also received by Hon. Gani Abolarin, my ward leader and the current member representing Ekiti at the Kwara State House of Assembly,” he explained.
Highlighting his contributions to the party, Dallas listed several roles he has played within the APC, including serving as Special Adviser to the Campaign Director-General for Governor AbdulRazaq’s re-election in 2023, a member of the Presidential Campaign Council, and Director of Campaign Strategy for Hon. Ajulo Opin in 2023.
He further accused the Isapa Ward APC Chairman of acting on the instructions of an undisclosed leader controlling him from behind the scenes.
“The leadership of the party is not doing enough, and some elements know this but refuse to admit it, pretending to be loyal. If we do not address these issues now, APC will struggle against the common enemy in future elections,” he warned.
Dallas reiterated his call for the resignation of the APC state executive, insisting that their poor leadership is weakening the party. He argued that the failure to manage internal crises and foster inclusivity is already affecting party unity.
“As a chieftain who believes in the party, I cannot sit back and watch it crumble. The state leadership of the APC has failed in its responsibilities, and if they truly care about the future of the party, they should resign and allow fresh, competent hands to take charge,” he asserted.
Dallas urged party leaders to focus on strengthening the APC rather than engaging in baseless accusations. He called for urgent reforms to reposition the party for electoral success in the coming years.
