Chief Olaitan Nurudeen Owoniyi, the Jaiyeoba of Igbaja has extended heartfelt felicitations to the Christian faithful across the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency and Kwara State at large on the occasion of Palm Sunday as Christendom marks the beginning of the Holy Week.
In a message issued through his media office on Sunday, Mr. Owoniyi described Palm Sunday as a profound symbol of victory, humility, and the ultimate sacrifice, marking the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
The renowned philanthropist and Businessman emphasized that the waving of palm branches and the shouts of Hosanna should serve as a reminder of the power of faith and the importance of welcoming peace into people’s hearts and communities.
“Palm Sunday is more than a religious rite, it is a confirmation of the triumph of light over darkness and humility over pride,” the statement read.
“As our Christian brothers and sisters begin this most sacred week, it is a time to reflect on the virtues of selflessness and the enduring love that Christ exemplified for all of humanity.” He said.
Drawing a parallel to the spirit of coexistence in Kwara State, the Jaiyeoba of Igbaja urged all residents, regardless of creed, to use this period to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood.
“Our strength as a people lies in our ability to stand together in times of celebration and in times of reflection. I appeal to all Kwarans to embrace the lessons of the Holy Week, patience, forgiveness, and kindness” He added.
Chief Owoniyi also used the medium to laud the administration of His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for creating an enabling environment where all religious groups can practice their faith in an atmosphere of absolute peace and security, acknowledging that the inter-religious harmony enjoyed in the state is a result of the Governor’s inclusive governance and the people’s collective commitment to stability.
