The Moro Local Government Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara North Senatorial district has officially endorsed the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a second term in office, alongside Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB) as its preferred candidate for the 2027 Kwara State gubernatorial election.
The endorsement was announced at a well-attended political gathering organized by the Moro APC Caucus, bringing together party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from across the local government area. The event served as a platform to reaffirm party unity, recognize leadership achievements, and set the tone for future political engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Alhaji Issa Aweda, described the occasion as historic and significant for the people of Moro Local Government. He welcomed attendees on behalf of President Tinubu and Hon. Bolarinwa, expressing confidence that the gathering would mark a turning point in the political landscape of the area.
According to Aweda, the endorsement of President Tinubu was based on his administration’s efforts in repositioning Nigeria through bold reforms and strategic leadership. He noted that the President has demonstrated commitment to national development and has taken decisive steps aimed at improving governance and economic stability.
“We are here today to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the good work he has been doing and to inspire his continuation in office. He has shown that he possesses the leadership qualities needed to move Nigeria forward, and we believe he will continue to lead the nation to greater heights,” Aweda stated.
Speaking further, he threw his weight behind the governorship aspiration of Bolarinwa, describing him as a capable and experienced leader who can build on the achievements of the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. Aweda emphasized that Bolarinwa’s track record as a former APC State Chairman remains a testament to his leadership ability and commitment to good governance.
“Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa has proven his capacity over the years. He played a key role in repositioning the APC in Kwara State and leading the party to success. We believe he is the right person to continue the good work and ensure a brighter future for our state,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, the Convener of the endorsement programme, Dr. Bolaji Afolabi, delivered a comprehensive address outlining the reasons behind the caucus’ decisions. He noted that the gathering brought together party faithful who are united in their commitment to the progress of the APC, Kwara State, and Nigeria as a whole.
Dr. Afolabi highlighted several policy decisions and reforms introduced by President Tinubu, which he said have laid the foundation for long-term national development. Among these, he listed the removal of fuel subsidy, exchange rate unification, infrastructural investments, and the introduction of a student loan scheme as key milestones of the administration.
He explained that while some of the reforms may be challenging, they are necessary steps toward achieving economic stability, transparency, and sustainable growth. According to him, continuity in leadership is essential to consolidate these gains and ensure that ongoing reforms yield their intended results.
“We firmly believe that President Tinubu deserves a second term to complete the good work he has started. His leadership reflects courage, vision, and a deep commitment to building a stronger Nigeria,” Afolabi said.
On the endorsement of Bolarinwa, the convener described him as a leader of proven capacity, citing his achievements and influence within the APC. He noted that Bolarinwa enjoys wide acceptability across different segments of the state and has consistently demonstrated the ability to unite people and foster political harmony.
Dr. Afolabi further referenced Bolarinwa’s role in the historic “Otoge” political movement, which reshaped the political structure of Kwara State, describing him as a champion of grassroots mobilization and a strong advocate for good governance.
“Dr. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa is not only experienced but also deeply connected to the people. His leadership style, integrity, and vision make him the most suitable candidate to lead Kwara State to greater heights in 2027,” he stated.
In addition to the endorsements, the Moro APC Caucus also made a case for the local government area to produce the next member of the House of Representatives in 2027. The group based its demand on what it described as consistent loyalty to the APC, strong grassroots mobilization, and the presence of qualified individuals capable of representing the constituency effectively at the national level.
The caucus appealed to the leadership of the party to consider Moro LGA for the position in the interest of fairness, equity, and inclusive representation.
The event concluded with a strong reaffirmation of loyalty to the APC and its leadership, as well as a collective commitment to work towards electoral success in the forthcoming elections.
