Residents of Igboho in Oyo State were on Sunday thrown into celebration after a kidnapped family—comprising a pregnant woman, her children and a sibling—were reportedly freed following a two-hour ultimatum issued by Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Videos circulating on social media showed large crowds singing, dancing and jubilating over the return of the victims, though the exact circumstances surrounding their release remain unclear at the time of filing this report.

The development followed an earlier viral video in which Sunday Adeyemo issued a stern warning to suspected Fulani community leaders in the area over rising cases of kidnapping and insecurity.

In the video, he addressed community representatives and traditional rulers, expressing anger over alleged killings and abductions in the region. He accused some members of the Fulani community of involvement in kidnappings, including an incident involving a pregnant woman and ransom negotiations that reportedly ended in fatalities.

“The person who brought the ransom, you still killed him and spared only one person,” he said, warning that such occurrences must not be repeated.

He also issued a two-hour ultimatum for the release of other abducted persons, stating that he had exercised restraint due to appeals from traditional leaders. “I am Sunday Igboho. I am calm because my fathers asked me to be calm with you. Let this be the last time such a thing will happen,” he added.

He further warned that failure to comply with his demands would lead to decisive action, including threats to storm suspected hideouts linked to the kidnappings.

Following the ultimatum, videos emerged showing jubilant residents celebrating what was described as the release of the kidnapped family.
