Barr Okey Ozumba, Dr. Ik Ogbonna Emerges Chairman, Secretary of IMSU Alumni Association BoT

The Imo State University (IMSU) Alumni Association has approved a new leadership direction following a virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Anticipating the expiration of the Barrister Chinwe Mbakwem-led Board of Trustees (BoT), the National Executive Committee (NEC) nominated an 11-member board, which was successfully ratified during the AGM.

Following their ratification, the incoming BoT held its virtual inaugural meeting on Sunday, July 12, 2026, electing Barrister Okey Ozumba as Chairman and Dr. IK Ogbonna as Secretary.

According to the list obtained by 9japarrot media, the New Board of Trustees (BoT) Members are as follows;

Princess Chyka Ukaga
Zephaniah Uche Nwanochie

In an official notification letter signed by the newly elected Board Secretary, Dr. IK Ogbonna, the BoT formally solicited the cooperation of the National Executive Council (NEC) to ensure the continued growth and progress of the global alumni body.

To prevent a leadership vacuum, the incoming Board confirmed it will officially assume full duties on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, immediately following the expiration of the outgoing board’s tenure.

Reacting to the development, the National President of the IMSU Alumni Association, Dr. Charles Nwosu, extended his congratulations to the new BoT leadership and members on behalf of the NEC and the entire alumni network.

Dr. Nwosu expressed absolute confidence in the capabilities of the new principal officers, noting that their nominations were carefully considered to drive the association forward. He wished the entire board a fruitful and impactful tenure.
