The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally commenced mobilisation for its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq declaring that the party is stronger than ever and well-positioned for electoral victory.

The Governor made the declaration on Monday at the APC Youth Engagement 2026 held in Ilorin, where party leaders presented the party’s candidates for various elective offices to members and supporters.

Speaking at the event, AbdulRazaq described the APC governorship candidate and Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, as a competent and experienced leader who possesses the capacity to consolidate on the achievements of the current administration.

According to the Governor, Danladi has played a significant role in the implementation of government projects through legislative appropriations passed under his leadership at the State House of Assembly.

He urged party members to immediately begin grassroots mobilisation across wards, polling units and local government areas, stressing that although the APC remains stronger than the opposition, victory would only come through sustained hard work and unity.

The Convener of SYD Youth Forum, Dr. Kamal Akorede, in his welcome address while welcoming all stakeholders reaffirmed the commitments of the youth demographic towards the success of the party ahead of the 2027 general election.

Also speaking, former Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hon. Dr. Rafiu Ajakaye, said the 2027 election presents Kwara with a choice between continuity and uncertainty.

He cited projects executed since 2019, including the International Conference Centre, Revenue House, Justice Saidu Kawu Courthouse, Senator Oluremi Tinubu Hospital, Innovation Hub, Visual Arts Centre, Ministry of Education Complex, Convention Centre, and the remodelled Kwara Hotel on Ahmadu Bello Way.

Other projects he listed include the Osi and Ilesha Baruba campuses of Kwara State University, the Shea Butter Factory in Kaiama, the Garment Factory, and ongoing upgrades in sports and tourism infrastructure.

Ajakaye added that the administration delivered over 588 kilometres of roads, in addition to 293 kilometres of Federal Government tax-credit roads, recruited 8,912 teachers, and grew Internally Generated Revenue from ₦30.6 billion in 2019 to over ₦92 billion. The tax base, he said, expanded from about 47,000 to over 1.4 million taxpayers.

“These are not campaign slogans. They are measurable outcomes that history will record,” he said.

He described Danladi’s tenure as Speaker since 2019 as providing “stable legislative leadership and the institutional partnership between the Executive and the Legislature that made many of these reforms possible.”

“Continuity is not about personalities; it is about preserving what works and accelerating the journey towards greater prosperity,” said Ajakaye.

“To our young people, I urge you to rise above propaganda and sentiment. Interrogate the facts. Compare records. Democracy flourishes when citizens reward competence, integrity and performance.” He added.

Responding, Danladi thanked Governor AbdulRazaq and the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to sustain and improve on the administration’s developmental agenda if elected governor.

In attendance at the gathering are all 2027 Candidates for the party, serving Lawmakers, All the 16 LGAs Chairmen and their Vice, stakeholders and party stalwarts among others
