Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency in Kwara State, Dr. Rafiu Ajakaye, on Wednesday embarked on a Thank you tour across Offa and Oyun Local Government Areas to rally party stakeholders and consolidate support.
The tour, which convened party executives, council chairmen, lawmakers, and community leaders at the APC Secretariat in Offa and the Oyun Local Government Secretariat in Ilemona, served as a platform to align grassroots structures for the upcoming polls.
Addressing stakeholders at Offa, Ajakaye opened his address by leading party faithful in rendering the Offa Anthem before pledging to provide selfless, inclusive, and transparent representation if elected.
“I bring a firm commitment to the good people of Offa, Ifelodun, and Oyun that if you entrust me with your mandate, I will be a true ambassador and an Omoluabi in the National Assembly,” He said.
“My emergence as flagbearer is not because I am better than anyone else, but a testament to Offa’s belief in equity and fairness (Lare, Bure).” He added.
The former Chief Press Secretary to Kwara Governor seized the opportunity to commends his two contenders who are from Offa, Hon. Femi Agbaje Whyte and Hon. Ojokure for their sportsmanship and for standing true to the party’s supremacy.
Speaking, the Executive Chairman of Ifelodun LGA, Hadji Femi Yusuf, described Ajakaye as a tested administrator whose track record speaks for itself.
“Dr. Ajakaye has served behind the scenes for the progress of Kwara State. His choice as our flagbearer is divine, and I can assure all stakeholders that the people of Offa and the entire federal constituency will never regret supporting him,” Yusuf said.
On his part, the Kwara APC Publicity Secretary, Hon. Waheed Babatunde, highlighted Ajakaye’s administrative efficiency during his tenure as Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, noting that his depth of experience makes him uniquely qualified to represent the constituency.
Further remarks praising his party loyalty were delivered by the Offa LG APC Chairman, Hon. Prince Nasiru Adekunle Moshood Adegboye; Offa LG Executive Chairman, Hon. Suleiman Olatunji Omituntun; and a veteran politician, Dr. Alhaji Hassan Oyeyemi Oyeleke.
At the Oyun Local Government Secretariat in Ilemona, the delegation was received by local party leaders and elected officials, including the Executive Chairman of Oyun LG, Hon. Engr. (Chief) Akanbi Kamar Olarewaju; Oyun LG APC Chairman, Elder Adewoye Michael Kayode; Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode; and the member representing Omupo Constituency, Hon. Barr. Ganiyu Folabi Salahuddeen.
Addressing the Oyun executive council and ward leaders, Ajakaye reiterated that his legislative agenda would prioritize balanced Legislative performance, youth empowerment, and equitable distribution of democratic dividends across all wards in Oyun, Offa, and Ifelodun.
“Oyun Local Government remains a bedrock of progressive politics in Kwara State, my visit today is to express profound gratitude for your steadfast support during the primaries and to assure you that every community in Oyun will have a strong, accessible, and accountable voice in the 10th Assembly.” He added.
In his response, the Executive Chairman of Oyun LG, Hon. Akanbi Kamar Olarewaju, assured the candidate of the local government’s total support, emphasizing that Ajakaye’s humble disposition and proven service record align with the vision of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration.
“Dr. Rafiu Ajakaye is no stranger to the development trajectory of Kwara State, his commitment to public service is evident, and the entire leadership and grassroots structure of Oyun LG stand united behind his candidacy to ensure a decisive victory in 2027.” He added.
Similarly, the Kwara Assembly Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode, urged party members across Oyun to maintain absolute synergy, stressing that internal cohesion and continuous voter mobilization remain key to delivering a clean sweep for all APC candidates across the state.
