The management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has commissioned a new student sit-out facility initiated by the 50th Students’ Union Government (SUG) administration, known as Team Analysis, as part of efforts to improve students’ welfare and provide a more conducive environment for academic activities.
The facility, officially known as the Team Analysis Sit-Out Legacy Project, was commissioned on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, by the Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. (Dr.) Abdul Jimoh Muhammed, FNSE, FNIMECHE, FCIPDM.
The commissioning was attended by members of the institution’s management, student representatives, staff and members of the 2025/2026 SUG administration.
The commissioning of the sit-out adds another physical project to the legacy of the 50th SUG administration, with the facility expected to serve students using the CBT Centre and other members of the Polytechnic community.
Speaking during the event, The Rector who was Represented by the Deputy Rector, Academics, Engr. Dr. AbdulQadir Babatunde, commended Team Analysis for its cooperation with the institution’s management and its focus on addressing practical challenges affecting students.
He described the sit-out as a “sensible project,” noting that the facility could accommodate more than 500 students during CBT examinations.
The Deputy Rector also urged successive SUG administrations to build on the achievements of the outgoing administration and pursue projects that would further improve students’ experience on campus.
Also speaking, the Director of Student Services (DSS), Engr. Mrs. Uthman Fawziyyah, commended the 50th SUG executives for what she described as maturity, cooperation and commitment to students’ welfare throughout their tenure.
She explained that the project was conceived after the SUG leadership raised concerns over the conditions students faced while waiting under the sun to write Computer Based Tests (CBT) at the institution’s CBT Centre.
According to her, “the SUG initially wrote to the management requesting the provision of chairs and canopies to provide relief for students waiting for their examinations.”
She added that the executives subsequently approached the management for a designated space around the CBT Centre where a pavilion could be constructed as a permanent welfare oriented project.
The DSS said the Rector was impressed by the initiative and approved the allocation of the space, which eventually became the Team Analysis Sit-Out.
The commissioning ceremony culminated in the official cutting of the tape by the representative of the Rector, marking the formal opening of the facility for use by students.
Beyond the Sit-Out, the Team Analysis administration also highlighted several other initiatives undertaken during its tenure as part of its student welfare agenda.
Among them was the provision of three Area Network (LAN) phones at strategic locations within the Polytechnic to improve communication and facilitate quick responses to emergencies.
One of the phones was handed over to the school’s Chief Security Officer, Mr. Samuel Kudabo, to enable students reach the security unit during urgent situations.
Another was presented to the Director of Student Services, Engr. Mrs. Uthman Fawziyyah, to facilitate communication on matters requiring prompt attention from the management, while the third was presented to the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Mrs. R.A. Uthman, for use during health emergencies.
The SUG said the LAN phone numbers were displayed at strategic locations across the campus and publicised through its Public Relations Office to ensure students could easily access the relevant units when necessary.
The administration also listed the provision of a new table tennis board, snooker game and goalpost net among its sports related initiatives, alongside the purchase of a new printer intended to facilitate students’ administrative needs.
The 50th SUG administration, led by Dist. Sen. Maruf Ibrahim (Analysis) as President, said the initiatives formed part of its commitment to student welfare and improving facilities accessible to the Polytechnic community.
