The Omar Bolaji Gambari (OBG) Local Government Coordinators across the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State have congratulated Prince Omar Bolaji Gambari on his appointment as Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Organisation for the governorship election in the state.
In a joint message signed by representatives of the three senatorial districts on behalf of the 16 LG coordinators, the coordinators described the appointment as recognition of Gambari’s professional experience, political exposure, organisational capacity, loyalty to the PDP and commitment to the development of Kwara State.
The coordinators said Gambari’s OMARi Agenda, anchored on People, Protection, Prosperity, Politics and Partnership, contains policy ideas that can add value to the Kawu-Fawenu project. They noted that the five pillars address key areas of governance, including human development, security, economic opportunity, political inclusion and strategic collaboration.
On People, the coordinators said the agenda places citizens at the centre of governance, with emphasis on access to healthcare, quality education, housing and employment opportunities. They said the people-centred approach aligns with the need for policies that respond directly to the everyday concerns of residents across the state.
On Protection, they highlighted the emphasis on security and the creation of an environment where citizens can live, work and conduct their businesses safely. They said the protection of lives and property remains fundamental to economic activity, social stability and sustainable development.
On Prosperity, the coordinators pointed to the emphasis on economic growth, agriculture, employment and youth empowerment. They said these areas remain important to Kwara’s development, particularly in creating productive opportunities for young people and improving the livelihoods of residents.
On Politics, they said the agenda’s emphasis on transparency, accountability, respect for the rule of law and citizen participation reflects the importance of inclusive political engagement and responsible governance. They added that Partnership, the fifth pillar, recognises the need for government to work with businesses, civil society organisations, NGOs, young people and other stakeholders in addressing developmental challenges.
The coordinators also commended Gambari for remaining actively engaged with the PDP after the governorship primary, describing his continued participation in the party as evidence of his commitment to its collective interest. They noted that his background in international legal practice, finance, entrepreneurship, agriculture, real estate and community development, alongside his political experience, would be valuable to his new assignment.
Describing Gambari as a committed Sarakite and stakeholder who believes in a better Kwara, the coordinators said his experience, political exposure and engagement with young people would strengthen coordination between the campaign organisation, party structures and grassroots communities.
The 16 LG coordinators assured Gambari of their full cooperation, loyalty and active support in the discharge of his responsibilities. They pledged to work with him, the Kawu-Fawenu campaign organisation and other stakeholders to strengthen grassroots coordination, engage ward structures and take the campaign’s message to communities across the 16 LGAs.
They congratulated Prince Omar Bolaji Gambari on his appointment and wished him success in his new responsibility, while expressing their readiness to contribute their networks, experience and organisational structures to the collective campaign effort ahead of the polls.
