Nigerian music video director, TG Omori, has revealed the huge financial cost of treating kidney failure, saying even a minimum-wage earner may struggle to afford a single dialysis session.
Omori made this known during a recent interview on the Afropolitan podcast, aired on September 23, 2026, where he spoke about his experience with kidney failure and the cost of treatment while waiting for a transplant.
He said dialysis costs between N50,000 and N70,000 per session at some hospitals, while he paid between N150,000 and N200,000 at a private facility.
According to him, patients may need dialysis three times a week, bringing the weekly cost to between N500,000 and N600,000.
Omori said continuing the treatment for about a year while waiting for a transplant could cost up to N31 million, excluding expenses for medical tests, drugs and possible complications.
He added that even someone earning N1 million monthly could find it difficult to cope with the financial demands of the treatment.
The music video director said his experience had changed his view of the importance of money and financial support during serious health challenges.
“Even though money can’t buy happiness, money can still buy some time,” Omori said.
