A 54-year old primary school teacher, identified as Garba Suleiman, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.
The arrest followed a complaint filed by the victim’s family at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Yola South,” the command explained.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect lured the minor and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her,” the command said in a statement signed by its Public Relatione Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje.
Acccording to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yola, for discreet investigation and prosecution.
“The CP condemns in strong terms all forms of Gender Based Violence and assures the public that justice will be served,” the command stated.
