Adigun Deepens Ajase Ward 2 Unity, Unveils Widows, Students Empowerment Scheme

Dr. Seyi Adigun has intensified his grassroots development initiative in Ajase Ward 2 with the second edition of the Ajase Ward 2 Stakeholders’ Union meeting, held on Friday, October 2, 2026, in Sanmora.

The meeting attracted a larger gathering of community leaders, women, youths, professionals and other stakeholders from across the ward, building on the inaugural meeting which brought together representatives from more than 35 constituent communities.

In an address presented on his behalf by Hon. Michael Olatunde Odewale, Adigun urged stakeholders to strengthen unity and cooperation across political, religious and social divides, stressing that the common challenges confronting the communities require collective action.

He said the Union should evolve beyond a platform for dialogue into a structured instrument for community coordination, advocacy and development.

Adigun identified the need to formally incorporate the Union, establish an authentic register of communities in Ajase Ward 2 and ensure that recognised community associations are properly represented within the Union as key steps in its development roadmap.

A major highlight of the meeting was the announcement of the Widows and Students Empowerment Scheme (WISTEP) as part of the next phase of the initiative.

Adigun proposed Ajase Ward 2 as one of the pilot wards for the rollout of WISTEP, designed to support widows and indigent students. The scheme, he said, would operate under the auspices of the Stakeholders’ Union, with committees established across the three zones of the ward to identify genuine beneficiaries.

He explained that the initiative would also provide an opportunity to deepen the connection between the Union and residents of the constituent communities while directing support to people with demonstrated needs.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary, Adigun said nation building begins at the community level, urging stakeholders to focus on what their generation could contribute to the development of Ajase Ward 2.

He challenged the Union to identify its human and material resources, establish common priorities and develop mechanisms for translating decisions into measurable outcomes.

Among those present at the meeting were Hon. Yemi Agboola, Chief S.O. Oyinloye, Hon. Olusola Adedayo, Mrs. C.K. Oguntoye and Comrade Olusola Debo Adeyemi.

The stakeholders commended Adigun’s initiative and called on all sons and daughters of Ajase Ward 2, to support efforts aimed at strengthening unity, community development and assistance to vulnerable residents.

The second stakeholders’ meeting therefore marked another step in the evolution of the Ajase Ward 2 Stakeholders’ Union, with emphasis shifting from the establishment of a shared vision to building structures, identifying priorities and implementing concrete community focused programmes.
