ABS Foundation Denies Political Motive Behind Former Director’s Removal, Reaffirms Non-Partisan Status

The Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Foundation has dismissed speculation linking the revocation of the appointment of its former Executive Director, Dr. Audu Musa Idowu, to his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The clarification was contained in a official statement signed on Thursday by the Regional Director for North Central, Lawal Olanrewaju Temitayo, in Ilorin and made available to 9japarrot.

Reports had suggested that Idowu’s exit from the non-governmental organization was connected to his resignation from the PDP following his inability to secure the party’s House of Representatives ticket for the Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero/Ekiti Federal Constituency.

Clarifying the foundation’s institutional framework, the ABS Foundation affirmed that its funding, programmes, and financial sponsorship are strictly the responsibility of its founder, former Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON.

“At no time was the Foundation funded or sponsored by Dr. Audu Musa Idowu, nor was he responsible for its financial sustenance,” the statement noted.

“Dr. Audu Musa Idowu served the Foundation as its Executive Director as a salaried employee just like every other member of staff down to the lowest-ranking employee. His position did not confer on him ownership, co-ownership, or financial sponsorship.”

The foundation reiterated that it has maintained a strict separation between its philanthropic operations and partisan political activities since its inception in 2019.

It disclosed that in line with its non-partisan mandate, all politically exposed persons and aides associated with the founder—including Alhaji Nasir Subair, Hon. Oye Adetula, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, Ibrahim Olayinka Otukoko, and Kawu Ndanusa were previously removed from the operational structure and replaced with neutral, outsourced professionals.

While respecting Idowu’s right to make personal political decisions, including his recent exit from the PDP, the foundation stated that his political choices should not be conflated with the organization’s administration.

The foundation reaffirmed its commitment to providing non-political community interventions across education, healthcare, rural electrification, and humanitarian relief regardless of political affiliation.
