Armed bandits have reportedly blocked the Isa-Shinkafi highway in Zamfara State, sparking concerns about the safety of motorists and other road users.
The incident was reported on Monday by D English Alhaji, a conflict reporter and advocate for a safe society, in a Facebook post.
In a brief situation report, Alhaji stated that bandits had blocked the highway connecting Isa and Shinkafi in Zamfara State.
However, further details about the incident were not immediately available. It remained unclear where exactly the blockade occurred, how many gunmen were involved, or whether any travellers had been attacked or abducted.
Zamfara State, in Nigeria’s North-West region, has continued to grapple with insecurity linked to armed banditry. Several communities and road users have been affected by attacks, kidnappings and other criminal activities.
The persistent insecurity has disrupted transportation, farming and commercial activities across parts of the region, leaving residents and travellers increasingly concerned about their safety.
As of the time of filing this report, the police and other security agencies had yet to issue an official statement confirming the reported blockade or outlining measures to restore movement along the highway.
