Arandun Wants Answers, Not Insults, Igbomina Group Tells APC Youth Assembly

The Igbomina Development and Accountability Forum (IDAF) has challenged the Kwara South APC Youth Assembly to address concerns surrounding electricity supply, healthcare infrastructure and political representation in Arandun and other communities in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The group, in a statement signed by its president, Adeyemi Seun, accused Gbadebo Abidoye, Public Relations Adviser to the Kwara South APC Youth Assembly, of responding to questions raised by Chief Gbenga Awoyale with personal attacks rather than addressing the issues affecting residents.

The forum maintained that Awoyale had contributed ₦1 million towards repairs to the community’s electricity infrastructure, arguing that his intervention demonstrated his commitment to addressing local challenges.

It also questioned Prince Lekan Adewoye’s alleged failure to contribute to the electricity repair project, claiming that he had disconnected his residence from the community’s power supply. The group argued that political leaders should be assessed on their commitment to shared community needs rather than the donations they publicise.

On political representation, the forum accused Adewoye of imposing Fafoluyi Olayinka Solace as a candidate for the Irepodun State Constituency Assembly seat without adequately consulting local stakeholders.

The group alleged that both Adewoye and Solace lacked established electoral roots in Irepodun or ever stayed in Irepodun or from the local government , claiming that Solace originated from Ondo State and transferred his Permanent Voter Card to Aran-Orin in 2026 and his sponsor Adewoye also transferred his PVC this year as well

It further alleged that Solace had previously faced controversy over claims about his citizenship, birthplace and origin. The forum said the alleged imposition had contributed to the dissatisfaction among stakeholders and the departure of some individuals from Adewoye’s political camp.

The allegations could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.

The group also disputed claims about road construction in Arandun, arguing that the project cited during a press conference in the community was still ongoing and approximately 60 per cent complete.

According to the forum, Awoyale was among those who contributed to the road project, insisting that the development should not be presented as the sole achievement of any individual.

On education, the group challenged Adewoye’s reported claim of building a school in Arandun, saying Awoyale had also contributed to educational development in the community. It further alleged that a contract for a block of four classrooms was awarded to a contractor brought by Mr Ben Adewoye, whom it identified as the elder brother of Prince Adewoye.

The forum also questioned the handling of reports concerning a computer allegedly stolen from a school, asking why a replacement had not been provided if the equipment was no longer available.

On healthcare, the group expressed concern over the condition of the Cottage Hospital in Arandun, which it described as non-functional and lacking adequate medical personnel.

It contrasted the situation with Adewoye’s reported payment of hospital bills totalling ₦4.8 million at the General Hospital in Ilorin, arguing that healthcare facilities in Omu-Aran and other communities also required attention.

The forum further questioned the progress of a proposal to upgrade a healthcare facility in Omu-Aran to a teaching hospital. It alleged that the relevant bill remained before the Kwara State House of Assembly and accused Adewoye of failing to use his political influence to advance the proposal.

The group said residents deserved explanations about the status of the bill and the efforts made to secure its approval, given the importance of improved healthcare services to the area.

It also criticised Adewoye’s alleged spending on festivals and other programmes outside his immediate political base, claiming that residents of Irepodun LG had not benefited sufficiently from such activities.

Let him come out to state the benefits Irepodun local government communities derived from him, he should state it out and we will help him to do calculations.
The forum cited an incident involving an APC ward meeting at the Arandun town hall, alleging that payment for chairs used at the event was made only after the organiser faced public criticism over the outstanding cost, arguing that the communities deserved greater attention and engagement from political officeholders seeking their support.

The Igbomina Development and Accountability Forum reaffirmed its support for Awoyale and urged the APC Youth Assembly to focus on the issues raised rather than engage in personal attacks.

It said the people of Kwara South deserved political campaigns built around performance, accountability, consultation and development, adding that voters should assess aspirants based on their records and contributions to the communities they seek to represent.

The forum maintained that residents of Arandun and other parts of Igbomina land had a right to demand answers on electricity, healthcare, education and political representation from those seeking public office.
