The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 15 suspects, including 14 Chinese nationals and one Nigerian, over alleged illegal lithium processing at four plants in Ogere, Ogun State.
The commission disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, saying the arrests were carried out on Friday, October 23, 2026, by operatives of its Lagos Zonal Directorate 2.
According to the EFCC, the operation followed credible intelligence and surveillance, which led to the arrest of the suspects at the four alleged illegal lithium processing plants.
Items recovered during the operation included bags of lithium rocks, 18 mobile devices, four laptop computers, two decoders, a television remote control and a trailer truck.
The commission said the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The arrests form part of the EFCC’s enforcement activities against alleged economic and financial crimes, as investigations into the operations of the lithium processing facilities continue.
