As political activities begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, a renowned political group, the Kwara South Unity Group has commenced efforts to unify stakeholders in the senatorial district, with a primary focus on ensuring equal representation among its three political blocs.

The group, during a consultative meeting with the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ismail Bolaji Yahaya Muhammed Atoloye Alebiosu, on Saturday, made a compelling case for the Igbomina bloc to produce the next Senator for Kwara South.

Speaking at the meeting, Engr. Bayo Alao explained that the senatorial district is composed of three blocs: Ekiti, Igbomina, and Ibolo, noting that all the three were well-represented at the gathering.

“Our senatorial district consists of three blocs: Ekiti, Igbomina, and Ibolo, and all the three blocs are fully represented here today,” He said.

Ekiti has spent 12 years representing us and currently, Ibolo is about to complete 12 years too. That’s why we are here today for your fatherly and royal guidance, because what’s good for the goose is also good for the gander. He added.

“We’re saying this time around it is time for Igbomina people to produce the next Senator.” said Engr Bayo.

Comrade John Agbenisi, who represented the Ekiti bloc, corroborated this stance, backing what Engr Bayo said.

“It is true that Ekiti has spent 12 years while Ibolo is about to complete theirs as well,” he said.

“For the unity of purpose, we’re collectively saying this time around, Igbomina deserves the Kwara South Senatorial seat. We believe you are in the best position to enable us to actualize this journey, Your Royal Majesty.” He added.

Dr. Babatunde Salami, while addressing the monarch, identified Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi, a member of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) Board of Trustees, as a worthy candidate.

“From our findings, we have been able to establish that while it is a good cause that Igbomina should produce the next Senator in Kwara South, we’ve also been able to clearly establish that Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi has proven to be a very loyal lieutenant who has remained committed to the progressive ideologies,” Dr. Salami stated.

“It’s our wish that your Royal Majesty will help us rally round him for your support as he has positioned himself well and is capable of representing us over the years through his numerous humanitarian interventions,” he added.

Hon. Olanrewaju Shade, speaking on behalf of the women’s caucus, reiterated the group’s appeal.

“Your Royal Majesty, we’re here to beseech your blessings and your guidance. At the Kwara South Unity Group, we’re saying this time around, we want Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi to be our eyes at the Red Chamber come 2027,” she stated.

In his response, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ismail Bolaji Yahaya Muhammed Atoloye Alebiosu, the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, appreciated the group for their consultation.

“While I appreciate you all for tabling your wishes without mincing words and for your consultations, it’s pertinent to know that as a father for all, our doors are always open regarding discussions that have to do with the advancement of our senatorial district,” the monarch said.

“We’ll keep doing everything within our reach to keep promoting peace and unity within our region.”

The revered monarch, while acknowledging the group’s good cause, admonished them to ensure that the unity of the district remains paramount in all steps to be taken.

He charged all prospective candidates to work towards unification of purpose and to work diligently towards securing a ticket for their desired elective position, which he said is yardstick to actualization of political dreams.

He concluded by assuring them that as royal fathers, they would always perform their fatherly role when expected.

The meeting drew prominent political figures, youth leaders, among others from various wards across the Senatorial district.
