FEATURED: What Does Irepodun PDP Want?

Gone are the days when candidates who could barely communicate effectively were presented to the people, yet victory still appeared attainable. Today, Irepodun PDP, having suffered two consecutive electoral defeats, has outgrown the era of poor judgment and weak strategic decision-making in candidate selection.

Irepodun does not want just another ticket; we want a ticket that guarantees victory and effective representation. We are no longer interested in the mere sharing or allocation of tickets without considering electoral viability and the broader interest of the people.

Irepodun is determined and prepared for victory. The party’s decline in electoral success began in Irepodun, and as the Yoruba would say, ““Eni tó mọ́ àtí wáyé ìrègún, ni yóò mọ́ áití lọ rẹ̀.”

can be interpreted in English as:

“The person who knows where the problem/challenge began is the one who knows how to end or resolve it.”.”

Irepodun is ready to spearhead the party’s return to victory starting from the 2027 elections.

What we require is not merely a candidate, but a candidate with proven antecedents and a track record of service. Victory cannot be achieved by relying solely on party loyalists; it requires a candidate who has genuinely impacted lives and earned the trust of the people across the Federal Constituency. This is where Amofin Akogun stands out.

We need a round peg in a round hole. We cannot afford to present a candidate who lacks the capacity to convincingly communicate plans, ideas, and policies capable of transforming our Federal Constituency.

The bigger electoral picture must guide our candidate selection process. The party must understand clearly that another electoral loss is a risk we cannot afford in 2027.

The 2027 elections will not be a contest for political heavyweights alone; they will favor intelligent, grassroots-oriented politicians with proven antecedents, strong public appeal, and the ability to navigate the political realities of our Federal Constituency. This is where Amofin Akogun again becomes the natural choice.

He is a political fighter and grassroots-oriented aspirant who has contested twice for the House of Assembly position, building a strong political identity and loyal support base. He possesses the courage and capacity to challenge the perceived political “Goliaths” who, for over a decade, have failed to prioritize the people.

*Why Amofin Akogun Is Sellable*

First, he is a lawyer with over 12 years of legal practice experience, a qualification that perfectly aligns with the responsibilities of lawmaking and effective representation. His legal background positions him to contribute meaningfully to legislation that can attract landmark infrastructural development to our Federal Constituency.

Secondly, his philanthropic footprint across the constituency speaks volumes. Since 2017, thousands of people have benefited from his numerous empowerment and humanitarian initiatives, including:

✅The Mechanized Agricultural Revolution Programme, benefiting hundreds of farmers;
✅Operation Safe Water, which provided potable water to over 12 communities;
✅Mr. Scholar, supporting secondary school students;
✅Go Corporate, which sponsored free CAC registration for 40 beneficiaries;
✅Oyinbo Farmer, which empowered 101 beneficiaries in food export and sales marketing, including ₦50,000 startup support at the close of the programme;
✅Igi Iwe Scheme, through which over 650 students received free JAMB forms;
✅Scholarships awarded to over 157 students since 2017.

✅Additionally, he launched an Online Banking empowerment initiative, distributing about 80 POS machines alongside ₦25,000 startup capital to beneficiaries.

Food distribution during festive periods has become a consistent practice under his leadership, while every May 27th, Children’s Day, he pays school fees for 80 pupils.

Anyone who believes these achievements will not significantly influence voter acceptance of Amofin Akogun at the polls is clearly disconnected from political reality.

*A Different Approach to Regional Development*

Amofin Akogun’s commitment to Kwara South development has always been distinctive. In the early 2010s, he founded Itesiwaju Ile Igbomina to advocate for Igbomina interests and advancement.

He later became the Founding President of the Kwara South Youth Development Organisation (KWAYORG), the umbrella body for youth organizations in Kwara South. He also served as former Legal Adviser of the Omu-Aran Development Association and former Public Relations Officer of the University of Ilorin Students’ Union.

*The Age Advantage*

On a final note, the age factor will play a significant role in the coming elections. In recent times, the House of Representatives has increasingly been dominated by energetic and visionary younger politicians within the 35–45 age bracket, a category Amofin Akogun perfectly fits into.

Traditionally, the Senate has been viewed as the arena for established political heavyweights, which explains why Amofin Akogun declined repeated calls by party leaders in Irepodun Local Government to join the senatorial race.

Today, a political fighter, community advocate, lawyer, renowned philanthropist, and compassionate leader is set to emerge from the ancient and highly populated city of Omu-Aran in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The destiny bell is ringing, and the people are fully prepared to support the young, energetic, innovative, and golden son of the soil, Amofin Joseph Titilope Akogun.
