The Kwara State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) on Saturday officially unveiled its candidate line-up for the 2027 General Elections following a successful consensus substitution primary election held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) State Secretariat along Offa Road in Ilorin on Saturday.
At the event witnessed by party chieftains, stakeholders, supporters, and electoral officials, Prince Adetoyese Omokanye was officially ratified as the NNPP 2027 Gubernatorial Candidate for Kwara State following the absence of litigation and a unanimous endorsement by the party.

Similarly, Hajia Zururat Romoke Zubair was unanimously endorsed and unveiled as the party’s Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate.

The exercise was conducted in the presence of INEC officials led by Oyinloye Olusegun Charles, Head of Unit (HOU) for Election Monitoring and Liaison Officer under the Electoral Operations and Election & Party Monitoring (EPM) Department of INEC Kwara State.

Earlier, while delivering his opening remarks, the Kwara State NNPP Chairman, Alhaji Isiaka Akani Lamidi, declared that the party stands as the most credible political alternative for Kwara residents ahead of the 2027 polls, asserting that both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have failed to meet the expectations of the citizenry.
Speaking on behalf of all newly unveiled candidates spanning the Senatorial, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly seats, Prince Adetoyese Omokanye assured Kwarans of the party’s readiness to deliver purposeful leadership and governance reforms.
He emphasized that his administration will prioritize tackling security challenges across the state and implementing economic policies aimed at improving the living standards of all residents.
