Afrobeats singer Fireboy DML has shared his experience of the culture shock he faced after moving to Lagos in 2016 to pursue his music career.
The singer made this known during a recent livestream, where he recalled how frightened he was by some of the things he saw when he first arrived in the city.
Fireboy said he witnessed people running mad, dead bodies on the streets and cultists within his first few weeks in Lagos. He also said the appearance of some Lagos residents made him feel scared.
According to him, despite the frightening experiences, he decided not to leave the city and gradually adapted to the Lagos lifestyle.
“I was so scared the first time I came to Lagos in 2016, in Surulere. People’s eyes were so red, and they looked scary. In two weeks, I saw someone run mad, dead bodies and cultists. Now, I also look like those scary people,” he said.
