Former Nigerian Ambassador to France, Kayode Laro, has been laid to rest in his hometown of Ilorin, Kwara State. The Nigerian Air Force transported his body, which was draped in the national colors, as a tribute to his service to the country.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq received the diplomat’s remains at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, accompanied by other dignitaries and the deceased’s family.
Among those present were Nigeria’s Ambassador to Paris, Muazam Nayaya, and Deputy Head of Mission in France, Ambassador Tunde Mukaila Mustapha. The burial ceremony was presided over by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Mohammed Bashir Soliu.
Governor AbdulRazaq expressed his deep sorrow and prayed for Laro’s forgiveness and eternal rest.
Ambassador Tunde described Laro as an exceptional diplomat and a true gentleman.
Laro, who served in various capacities in the Nigerian Foreign Service, was appointed Ambassador to France in 2021.
He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
