Ifelodun Stakeholders Reject Imposition, Insist on Babatunde Muhammad for ADC State Chairmanship Position

Stakeholders and elders of the African Democratic in Ifelodun Local Government Area has kicked against the rumored imposition of a state Chairman outside the agreed zoning arrangement.

Speaking at a press conference organized to address the zoning of the state chairmanship position, the Ifelodun LG ADC Party Chairman, Hon. Abdulrasheed Akogun stated that the local government would not accept any candidate other than Rt. Hon. Babatunde Muhammad.

Akogun on behalf of the Stakeholders noted that the decision to back Muhammad was the climax of a transparent and inclusive process that spanned from the senatorial district down to the ward level.

“Bringing in another person representing Ifelodun as the State Chairman is not acceptable, because all Ifelodun stakeholders and elders have endorsed Rt. Hon. Babatunde Muhammad and we are standing by this resolution. You cannot impose anyone on us,” Akogun added.

According to a communique issued at the end of the briefing, the ADC State Zoning Arrangement Committee had originally zoned the chairmanship to Kwara South, with the senatorial committee further narrowing the slot to Ifelodun Local Government.

The internal zoning process within Ifelodun reportedly saw the ticket move to Constituency B, and subsequently to Agunjin Ward, where stakeholders unanimously endorsed Honorable Babatunde Muhammad.

The stakeholders warned that any attempt to bypass this united and collective decision would be met with stiff resistance, describing any alternative candidate as an “imposition” on the people of Ifelodun.

The resolution was backed by a long list of party bigwigs and elders, including: Otunba Alabi Olalekan, ADC Party Elder, Ifelodun, Alhaji Yisa Olokooba,Engr. Badeji S. Olatunji, Prince Gbenga Adeshina, Hon. Kamar Bello, ADC State Assistant Financial Secretary, and Princess Tinuke, ADC Women Leader.

The group reaffirmed that the leadership and stakeholders in Ifelodun Local Government remain resolute in their alignment with the zoning process, insisting that the affirmation of Babatunde Mohammed reflects the will of the party’s grassroots.
