Workers’ Day: Orji Uzor Kalu Salutes Nigerian Workers, Urges Improved Welfare

As the coutry marks the 2026 Workers’ Day, the Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu has commended Nigerian workers for their resilience and contributions to national development.

In a message to commemorate the occasion, Kalu praised the dedication and sacrifices of workers across various sectors, noting that their daily efforts remain the backbone of Nigeria’s growth and stability.

He specifically acknowledged the roles of teachers, healthcare professionals, security personnel, civil servants, entrepreneurs, and artisans, stating that their commitment continues to sustain the nation despite prevailing challenges.

“Today, we honour your resilience, dedication, and unwavering commitment despite the challenges many face,” he said, adding that the sacrifices of Nigerian workers do not go unnoticed.

The former Abia State governor emphasised that the strength of any nation lies in the productivity, determination, and patriotism of its workforce. According to him, Nigeria’s continued existence and progress are largely driven by the perseverance and optimism of its people.

Kalu urged workers to remain steadfast, hopeful, and committed to excellence, expressing confidence that the country would overcome its challenges through unity, hard work, and purposeful leadership.

“As we mark this year’s Workers’ Day, I encourage all Nigerian workers to remain steadfast, hopeful, and committed to excellence,” he stated.

The lawmaker also called on governments and employers at all levels to prioritise policies that enhance workers’ welfare, dignity, and opportunities for growth.
